You may take exception to this! But hey ho!

Why are there continued threads and discussions about my two "Pet Hates"
Waving and Naming the Van?

I have been MHing for over 40 years and in the "old days" I waved, everyone waved but "not a lot" because we were so few, we were the ones that broke away from carravaning and tended to travel so much further in Europe and beyond than Caravanners so the few were unique, you might only see another MH after a few days

I remember being on the Costs Dorado in the early 70s being asked how did you get here! We drove here! Amazing but true, the package holidays were just getting into their stride.

So back to "Waving"would you wave at a White van why wave at a MH they are everywhere.

Naming the Van, it's not worth discussing. it's Metal,Plastic, Glass, etc, etc, it does'nt breath. Naming it, yes! If it responded.

I continue not waving in my van!!

where are the threads? I hadn't noticed any recently?

maybe yours is a controversial thread starting up a debate that wasn't there!

but I quite like waving, and seeing the reactions form others, always a littlebit (sic) disappointed when others don't. Oh, and Mine's called Stella3!!

This is like saying''I have a pet hate when someone says ''Hey Ho'' in their thread title.

Why do people continue to say ''Hey Ho''.

Sorry, I think I must be jealous as you have a Charisma and we don't.

Don't take exception to this thread at all.

Just a bit puzzled as to why you think I might and why you bring the subject up out of the blue (for me).

Paul.
I have no motorhome since it was stolen and many would say no charisma either.

I thought it might be nice to liven things up a bit ,sadly I am already being attacked by coppo.

I don't wave, I don't name my MH and started with a VW it's a shame within minutes I'm put down.

I suppose, when I started International Trucking, every UK truck driver would wave, but as they got more and more, Drivers were not proper Drivers, borders came down and it was easy, anybody could do the job, no initiative was required.
Then the standard of Drivers came down and the Camaraderie was lost.
Every man for himself, not sticking together, if you had a breakdown, they would drive right on by That would never have happened before.
The same goes for M/Hers!

If you start a thread with "You might take exception to this!" Then surely you would expect it to get a response. I always wave and assume that people that don't either did not notice or are too miserable.
And the motorhome is called Eggie.
Just my view.

I do not see any "put down", perhaps you are reading a different thread?

Neither have I seen any threads about naming or waving for a considerable time......

Is it possible that you have clicked on something which is giving you this view which to me does not reflect what I can and do see?

Our MH has no name (and no that does not mean it's called Anonymous), we do wave, but don't get at all annoyed or worried if it is not reciprocated, why should we?

We also usually give way at junctions etc., trying to be considerate and pull over when we can so that drivers coming from the other direction can go past easily as French rural roads are very small c/w even B or C roads in the UK. We do feel a little peeved when such an act is totally ignored by the other driver, but will keep on doing so in the (probably vain) hope that the habit of being considerate of others will spread - perhaps the "stoopid English" will be able to encourage such politeness.......

but I won't hold my breath.....

sorry if that has taken your thread totally off the original non-topic....

Dave

Thinking of ALL the front line staff working to try to help others;Doctors, nurses, paramedics, cleaners, NA's, catering staff, support services and all others. Their work is appreciated more than you can ever realise-keep strong and safe.

Remember Jo Cox and what she stood for.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.
