Are you trying to format it in the camera or on a computer?

Needs to be FAT32 or NTFS file system, probably better to get a card reader and format it on your PC.

I don't know if all dashcams are the same, but the Mio MiVue that I got a few weeks ago certainly won't record without a Micro SD card fitted.

If it was me I would buy a new card (32gb) and format it in the camera. Then keep that card only for the camera. Micro SD cards are so cheap these days.

Gerry

I recently had to hand over my dash cam cards to the police as evidence and realised they got 5 1/2 hours of driving and conversation, some of which I wouldn't want them to have !

(32g 1080p)

I now use 4g because unless you use your dash cam to specifically record your journey for saving and viewing or have it to do parking mode, anything else is pointless as you only need a couple of minutes for accident evidence.

format your card in your camera and if it doesn't work there are genuine 32g Kingston cards next day delivery fronm a UK supplier on ebay.

Was that evidence for you, or against you, as a matter of interest?

There were 6 witness statements against me. The camera evidence was crucial to the preservation of my way of life and provided conclusive proof in my favour.

People lie for all sorts of reasons.

If you have not already checked out "Techmoan" on the internet, he may be able to answer your questions in an active demo on http://www.techmoan.com/guide-to-dashcams/
There are different quality cards and some do not work in all dashcams.
