I have been there and understand exactly how you feel and 'gutted' does not begin to describe your feelings.
Right! To work.... if you have not already done so, begin writing a list of everything that was in the van, this should come under Household Insurance. Ours was up to Ģ2000, which did not cover everything but helped.
The van and any permanent fixtures comes under the Motorhome Insurance.
In our case if we had receipts we got full price back, without receipts we got half the value.
Any photographs can be helpful, reminding you of things gone and can be proof of their existence.
To our surprise we ended up with half a dozen close lined sheets of paper, filled with the contents we could remember.
Again to our amazement, we were paid in full by Saga, four weeks from the day it was taken.
In our case the thieves had broken our homes back door off its frame to get inside and take the keys. I have heard of vans stolen where the keys were not hidden or locked away. Insurance companies are not so helpful in those cases.
Finally, to our amazement, they did not put up our protected insurance policy.
We never heard of our van again..... the Police were fantastic, offering emotional support which we declined but in hindsight we should have accepted.
Good luck, we will be thinking of you.
