Hi all. Was here long ago, we then had 'Archie' our Hymer 694 but time was getting the better of him and at the beginning of this year at 76 years I thought DVLA would definitely want my 7 tonne licence but two days after Archie went at giveaway price I had a letter saying my licence was good for three more years so have gone out and bought a Fiat Ducato Autotrail Dakota which has a bit of room to move rather than living in each others pockets with a small van. It does have one or two issues which I would like some help with if possible. Namely the leisure electrics Sargent EC 200 are in need of either replacing or severely repairing. I look forward to meeting and exchanging pleasantries with you. Mick

Welcome to MHF and hack, after your brief dojurn to the joys of a motorhome.

As regards the Sargent, you will need to give a lot more details about what you perceive the problems to be, it is much easier to help when one knows what help is needed....

You will find the Sargent system linked in numerous threads so a search using Google for "motorhome facts Sargent " may well bring up links directly. Google is much easier than the search dusted on here, for which one needs to be a full member AFAIK.

Worth trying, give us more info and we will try to help,

Welcome,

Dave

Hi Mick, what was your user name and how long ago since you were here. I probably won´t know you, but give your old user name others might.

Welcome back I do hope we will be hearing more from you.

It would also be good if you filled in some of your details.

Have I got this right, because of Covid19, as well as a 6 months amnesty on VE tax for renewals at the peak of the epidemic, there has been a similiar one for C1 licences. IE that you didn't have to take a medical and apply for the 3 years, they just granted you it. Well done! it's an ill wind.

We were informed that those who had “Grandfather Rights” are not exempt

Presumabally as they had not taken a driving test prior to being granted the licence C1 to drive

A letter came with application to renew the C1 explaining the exemption but sadly on enquiring at the DVLA it did not apply to those driving on Grandfather's rights

Albert still needed to have the medical completed for his application which he has finally managed to do

It would be worth checking to be sure

Yes, that is a bit sexist isn't it. They assume that a woman would not be driving those sorts of vehicles.

Yep so you would need to apply and send in the medical report completed by your GP Jan, in Britain I don’t know about Germany

£100 cash , cheap at the price for 15 minutes work !!!

If eye problems then an opticians report, interestingly that’s free But I guess they charge for the eye test in younger people, Albert has glaucoma in his left eye, so free , And age wise he’s free anyway

Hopefully this time will be straight forward

The last one the Young On line doctor, who only charged £50 ticked that alberts cancer was likely to spread to his brain??

Took six months for his oncologist to refute that one, we missed our holiday as we could drive the MH in this country but not abroad ???

So pay the hundred to your own GP or be very careful

It is a thought Jan

I’d be a bit concerned about 89 year olds driving about with no Previous checks

But what do I know ?

I no longer drive
