We are not back in April

We have now decided to Delay our Europe trip for the foreseeable future.
As we found out, our travel insurance which we had taken out well before the corona crisis will not cover us in case be catch the virus.
We also think it will be no fun traveling through Europe when everything seems to close down. After the Australian government advised not to travel to any country in the world unless it is absolut necessary we have now canceled our flights and all the other stuff we had booked month ago.
Our motorhome will just have to stand a lot longer in storage until the situation improves.
Not happy

Yes it's sad and has put paid to many vacation plans in the foreseeable future. No telling how long these problems will exist. We are now concerned about the deposit we have paid for next winter in Portugal as it was cash.

That's a shame but wise, I think.

Says she who can't bring herself to cancel my trip over to St Petersburg. But the CnCC who are organising a month of that will cancel if dictated by FO or closed borders or also, apparently, if too many of the planned tours, trips n meals will have to be cancelled.

My quandary is that I'm due to leave about 6wks before the tour starts in the east of Poland. I know Poland has closed its borders but who knows what will be the situation in 6 weeks....

Not sure about your insurance Jean but friends paid by CC and have travel insurance which is covering everything including the pre paid parking fees at the airport.

I'm waiting for a call-back from my insurance. Was wondering if I delayed my outward ferry for 3 weeks or so would my insurance still cover me or would that be seen as (perhaps foolishly) planning a trip when the pandemic was already in force?

Well, I got the callback and yes, if I rebook to a further time the insurance will not cover me for anything corona-related. So it's a case of wait n see.

A friend of mine in Germany is in the same situation as us. He purchased a motorhome which I organised for him in Australia and booked a flight from Germany to Brisbane on the 9 of April. The flight is already delayed by 2 days and if the Australian government closes its borders he might not be able to come at all. In the meantime his motorhome is sitting on my driveway waiting for it’s owner.
