'Bank transfer' on the mobile app - is that just a transfer of money from his bank to yours? Could you then move it to another bank of your own so that it's no longer in the account to be taken back?

I think the banks got wise to that Jean. It's only 'cleared' funds you can take out and if they don't clear for weeks you can't touch them.

Hi folks,
Just spoke to Nationwide, the guy said that if the money appears in your account on the app, it is cleared and available for you. Apparently it can't be "called back".
Also there's a 10k limit per transaction using fast payment, but he said that they shouldn't be a problem if the buyer did 3 transactions to cover the full amount. A chaps payment can deal with more in one shot but can take a day or so.
Before turning in last night I put the van on Gumtree for 26k, and was instantly offered 22k! so we'll see how it pans out.
Thanks for your advice so far.

MAke sure you have the cash before handing over the keys, Gumtree is far worse than eBay for scams.

Sold mine on Gumtree...advertised one afternoon...sold next morning....did the final transaction in my bank.

There is always a few days to sort things after the decision is made....at least with reasonable buyers.

Iíve recently sold a car and motorbike and received payment by bank transfer done by mobile app.

Apparently once itís paid over thatís it done, sorted, no call back.

Bankers drafts CAN be cancelled under some circumstances, and so Iíd avoid them.

Also dont accept cash unless itís within your bank branch and they accept it for you into your account.

Where are you in case someone local can have a look over the MH for you just in case there are any obvious problems for you to sort first

Hi everyone, I sold the van today.
Just wanted to say many thanks to all who offered advice, it was helpful and dad is more than happy with the result.
Hopefully I'll be able to a get a van in the future and will certainly come back here for help and advice.
Cheers
Steve
