You're probably correct - but the remedy is the same - find another garage.
Locating obscure parts is part of the job for any decent garage.

Help someone out when they're in trouble and they'll remember you when they're in trouble again.

The man on the ground would have to make that decision, it may be the contact at the garage was having a bad day, or they don't do repairs, regardless, it's not a big problem now there is a source for the parts needed.

Thank you kev, will do, Fetched her back from the main dealer/garage yesterday and hopefully , fingers crossed got another garage on the case. I think the main dealers just phone one supply company who they deal with and if they cannot supply it, well, that's another story, basically told us, find the parts and we will fit them... best regards Andy

I didn't realise it was a the main dealer, what a shambles, they must know that there are after market suppliers, however you just sidestepped a possibly huge bill, they invented overcharging, back street garages are where it's at for older vehicles, jsut need to ask around for a reputable one.

Keep us updated Andy

I think you may have to subscribe now unless they have upped the 5 post limit, but we're worth it £12.50 for life.
