Just a thought, but it would hold up the base almost as high, and you could simply lift it and drop the leg in the slots without any firtling and fumbling for the detachable bits.

Nice one though. 9/10 for effort!

I considered that but, given that the furniture laminate is not very robust, glueing wouldn't be an option. I didn't want to use through bolts which would be visible, but maybe there are other possibilities. Will think about it further. The next trip will show up the deficiencies!

The whole thing is a 'proof of concept' project really, and intended to stop me loitering on street corners and making my town look untidy.

I'm daft and proud of it.
