Something very strange with the EHU

Last week I had an accident and broke the EHU socket, it pulled out to its housing.
I had it fixed by Gordon our lovely little young mechanic, plugged it into the house for the fridge and it worked fine.
Today nuffink, so I drove the van to its normal spot and plugged in, all fine, tested with our rapidest 13 amp socket tester and all lights were on telling me all is as it should be.
Went back to the house socket and if I turn the plug upside down all the lights come on, the right way up it says there is a neutral fault.
So move van back to house, plug in upside down, nothing. Used the tester again alls well 3 lights are on.

As it works on the place where the van normally stands and not on the house socket the only thing I can think it could be is the wiring in the cable, but it worked on Thursday & Friday because I used it to heat the water and the fridge.
I thought I would use the big orange cable from the van, but thats got the EHU plug on the connecting end and I only have the normal sockets to try and they work with the tester so should I take the cable to Gordon to test?

No chance you might have a 'trip' on the neutral line Jan.
Not sure of German electrics but some older installations here were double pole protected and if the Neg tripped/blew it could work one way to earth but not the other to Neg.??

I have found the problem Ray, it is the blue plug or is it socket, the bit on the van end of the cable, the brown wire is out. I need to cut off more of the plastic coating to get it back in.

OK Jan and well done but the cable clamp is meant to grip the outer and not the wires for mechanical strength. Another six year apprenticeship gets you that kind of experience.
