My cheappo ones lasted 3 years of pretty regular and continued use without problem. I then sold my MH so donít know how much longer they lasted. Never had a problem with them getting hot either.

I am sure, like everything else, there are good and bad products, perhaps I was lucky?

You're not alone Andy, although mine aren't waterproof as only used inside the MH, I purchased 2 cheap 5mtr reels they have lasted 4 years and are now all going strong once I ditched the dodgy connectors. BTW they would get nightly use when we are on our 5 month trips away.

I don't think it is as tough as you are thinking but you are not enough good at this job then you must call to electrition.
