Does anyone recognise this reversing camera?

Hi
My reversing camera is suffering from condensation fuzz after 7 days in the Lake District earlier this year - no I'm not joking!

The vehicle is a 2018 Pilote Galaxy 781 Emotion and the camera was fitted by Pilote. Does anyone recognise the make? Pilote say, "Go to your dealer." The dealer says, "Leave us your credit card."

Surprise - surprise it's just out of the camera's separate warranty. The dealer wants an arm and a leg to replace it, I guess because complete moulding (See named Pilote Camera 2) will need to be removed at dealer's prices. If anyone other than a dealer touches that the "damp warranty" would be n and v.

I'm not sure what I can do if I can find out the manufacturer! Maybe they know of the secret switch to put on the camera heater.

I have checked inside and there is no access to remove and dry it out/reseal. In fact I can't actually find any wiring at all.

I have tried judicious warming without improvement.

The pity is that it was a very good camera with an almost 180 degree view and a good quality picture.

If this is going to be a big and expensive job maybe I have to replace it with an externally fitted one.

Are wireless cameras any good now? They didn't used to be but I guess that things have improved. That way I would only need a power supply as I leave it on at all times when driving. Can anyone recommend either or both of a wireless one and a hard wired one - preferably either very wide angle or two view?

Any thoughts?

Is this one hard wired, if so you have more options, if it has the same cable as a new one then you can use it, if not you can still use it but to pull the new cable through the van.

I bought a very small camera last year, about the size of a 50p piece, maybe smaller, so they are out there, you can buy the camera separately so it could be a cheap exercise.

Without more info it's hard to help, but look at these and see if any would work for you.

As for wireless types, I've never had one.

It will have been fitted from the outside you have to gently prise it out there maybe mastic so you will have to use a thin blade to free it first hopefully they have left enough wire free to get to the conectors

Thanks for that. So you think that it was retro fitted after the panel was sealed in place. I will give that a try later. I may also try a few French web sites to see if I can get another. It really was a good camera.

Thanks for that. It was/is hard wired but unless I can get it out I can't find any of the wiring. I suspect that in usual Pilote fashion it's in the insulation. They either hide it totally or use huge overengineered plastic covers that occupy large amounts of cupboard space. If Bilbaoman's suggestion doesn't work out, I will get back to trying to find the wires and work on from that. I've checked some of the cameras on Ebay and one or two seem viable. Thanks.

Hopefully, between us we can get a result, in the meantime, it might be worth pointing a hairdryer at it, and seeing if there is a way to seal it as this isn't a common problem for cameras.

I had tried the hair drier with no effect. If I can get it out I will try again. I'm getting the ladder out as we speak...

Yeah, my fault, it can't work as there's nowhere for the moisture to go, DOH!!

I wonder if perhaps you may have reversed into a branch and knocked a cover off or dislodged something, I'm just throwing things at you as I'm not there to see it, you did mention it was just out of warranty, I'd try for a goodwill fix maybe.
