Rear cameras, have they improved a lot in last 15yrs?

I am going to up grade my monitor/screen in my reversing camera setup. I know that screens have improved enormously in the last 15 yrs since it was installed. I don't think, but could be wrong, that the camera technology has hugely improved and was going to keep the factory fitted camera. It was a top of the range job with lots of irs for night vision, a microphone, it's fitted at high level and motorised to see vertically and horizontally (to act as rear view mirror when driving And most importantly it would save me running new cable.

What do you think? Would I get the full benefit of the new screen?

A new screen if compatible would make a difference, not sure as you say whether the camera tech has been as good.
