As it would appear to be a very common "problem" Is there a "Fit for purpose" issue with it?

Not sur I understand what you mean.
It doesn't seem to affect performance but it's a bit annoying. It only last about 5 seconds when you turn engine off.

I have a conversation with Ford UK about that subject. The annoying bit is that FORD take the old part back and re-condition it, and re fit it!
