Transit Mirror 1 White Van man Mirror (Fiat) 0

Having read quite a few threads about Fiat Mirrors and the costs of arguing with white van man, I thought I'd relate our story from early May.

We've just returned from Sicily and in one of the smaller towns the road was narrowed by parked cars on both sides of the road and we could pass moving cars ok but with us both taking care, of course white van man didnt slow down at all and I'm as close as I can get to the parked cars (bearing in mind I'm RHD and we're only 2180 wide) when " bang" and our passenger mirror slams into the side of our van. As we're in a stream of traffic and nowhere to stop, we open the window rearrange the mirror and carry on, no damage to the van at all.

5 or 10 mins later, now on a narrow climbing road heading out to the north west of the island, there's a white van behind me weaving about, it looks a bit like that van which was going too fast! I pulled in when I could and he came alongside to complain about his mirror, it was in pieces and looked a very sorry mess. My italian is good enough for campsites, bars and restaurants but not for a discussion about who didnt slow down or pull over.

So by this time there was traffic getting angry behind him, and with shrugging of shoulders and hand waving we moved on.

So Transit 1 Fiat 0

cheers alan

Nice one! Transit rules!
My Transit was actually built in Turkey, so am hoping that it is more than ready for the knocks in Europe.....based loosely on the principle that anything involving kebabs has to improve build quality!!!
