Same old problem Ford with engine malfunction
I took the van to Hartwells Ford and after running computer analysis, they said the Turbo was faulty, replacement, £1600.
So I took the van to our local tyre place and asked for a good cheaper garage.
They asked what the problem was I said engine warmed up and on acceleration to overtake, engine warning light comes on, ENGINE MALFUNCTION and goes onto limp mode.
Ah they said, lifted the bonnet and pulled the air intake sensor lead off, take that for a spin.... perfect and I really ragged it.
Solution replace air intake sensor. Bingo
Sadly no, off to France and the pyrenees just accelerating to get onto the M40 at Oxford, yes you guessed it. Anyway we carried on but down towards Millau I got fed up with stopping, turning engine off restart-reboot. So I removed the sensor cable and it did it once after that. so a further 1500 miles it was ok, admittedly I wasn't pushing it.
If I take it back to a garage they will plug it in and say turbo mate, because the computer says its the turbo, my feelings as a techno plegic (who can't spell) is that it is a computer problem causing the turbo to malfunction.
Any thoughts anyone
