Found this on a MB forum :-

START ERROR

The problem is a WSP unit, small black box costs £150 from mercs only.

I specialise in reassigning the new units to the cdi which includes the key coding of the transponder.

I tavel all over England doing all mercedes diagnosing as i have the mercedes Star/das/wis diagnostic computer.

WSP

Thanks Trek,

Inbetween our original post, before and after going into the Garage I found these (I think from your replies).

Revtronic< Click.

I have spoken to them this afternoon and have said if I send the ECU, WSP and an ignition key to them, they can repair and / or reprogram the units. Upon return, simply re-fit and turn the key. Cost £175.

I have collected the units from MB Garage and will let you know the outcome.

Thanks again,
Trev.

Is this problem confined to newer Sprinters or across all years?

Hello Peedee,

As far as I am aware it is any previous generation Sprinter or Vito. IE not the New Sprinter or RWD Spanish Built Vito.

WSP is part of the immobiliser system that links to the ECU.

Regards,
Trev.

Thanks, I will have to keep my fingers and toes crossed that I do not have problems. Anyhow I have noted where to get them fixed if needed.

Update

Well,

The ECU & WSP arrived back today. Mercedes fitted them back in for me as the MH was at the garage. After an initial hickup with the other key, drove out from the garage and the gearbox is not changing gear correctly.

The vehicle pulls away, then after a long lag/delay, coasting and some very high revs, it will eventualy change gear and do the same up thrugh the gearbox.

I managed to get home, just and park it on the drive. Not spoken with Mercedes yet but have emailed Revtronic with the symptoms as they were closed.

Update to follow........

Arrgh!

I maybe talking a load of rubbish:-

but now that it is starting but with problems with your sprintshift, sounds like it could be a bug in the software that Revtronic have inserted

Could MB re-flash your ECU/WSP with the latest version of the software code ??

I think I would also remove & reconnect all the connections to these boxes and check anything in their vacinity maybe something is not connecting properly or something else has been disturbed?

Rubbish

Thanks Trek,

I will look at it again next week when I get a reply from Revtronic or MB.

Stuck on drive for now. Glad we did not take it back to MB as we are going to use it as a living room while we finish laying a ne floor in th lounge/dinning room/hall & bathroom.
