knocking squeaking noise

when taking a hard right turn and the body of the van leans over to the left there is a slight knocking squeaky type noise coming from the rear left wheel area, as in when all the weight leans on to that wheel it happens but not always as loud. sounds like something rubbing on brake disc.

Mrs c as been on her knees listening and it definitely comes from that area.

we have checked all the inside and everything is packed securely

and i have looked underneath and cannot see or feel anything loose

any ideas ?

John.

Hi John,

Noises like this are difficult to diagnosed without hearing them. At the rear it could be loose or worn suspension fixings, worn shock absorber and/or bushes, or worn bearing. The rear discs might be sticking, or brake pads if you have drum brakes on the rear but they would not usually knock, just squeal. Only way to really find out is to put it on ramps.
You absolutely sure nothing is moving about inside?

Someone with greater knowledge will no doubt come along.
Hope you get it sorted..
Regards
Brian

not any chance of the tyre rubbing on something like the wheel arch, waste water outlet or mud flap is there.
On my Fiesta I had something similar and the rear of the wheel arch, which is made of soft material, was rubbing on the tyre. I had jacked it up and spun the wheel with no noises but of course there was more clearance as the wheel was hanging.

Just had base vehicle serviced, mentioned to check out rear wheels brakes etc re noise, on inspection have been advised the inner surface on both rear discs have failed, pads are wrecked too, have been quoted £380 to repair, is this a reasonable price ?

I would get a second quote, also ask the first garage for a labour only quote then I would get prices of parts from a parts company.you might well save a lot.
