dog seat belt restraint

We have acquired a black Labrador dog it has a harness and a seat belt restraint this works perfectly in my wifes Yaris an my van both have seat belt stalks. On the rear seat of the VW t4 Bilbo camper van the seat belts are fabric the camper is an R reg I have sent for anew seat belt restraint with three different fittings but none of them fit the Bilbo I can find no ID on the belt but they look like the old Britax belt. As the dog it 30kg I am reluctant to stitch up an old belt. The dog sits quietly on the back seat but I would want it to be restrained. I have a Lintran box but I cannot think were I can store it when we go camping. Has anyone else come across this problem and how did you solve it

Angry dog seat belt restraint

Thank you for the reply elddis man .The van has three seat belts in the rear two lap and diagonal and a lap belt in the middle. A closer investigation has revealed that the belts are made by Securon. I have emailed then but have had no reply I think they only deal with the trade. There must be a firm out there that makes a strap that goes from the seat belt clip to the dogs harness.

Without seeing it, could I suggest a look on eBay for something suitable to make the attachment, maybe a used seat belt?

Thank you for the reply Pudsey
I contacted Pug parts in Brotherton and bought a seat belt fitting for a 504. Seat belt sorted thanks for all your help. Just got to get the dog used to the camper. Bought a Cobb bbq from ebay yesterday cannot wait to try it out.

Personal Aire
We use one of these straps - a few quid off Ebay and other suppliers.

About two foot long and clips to another short lead which allows him to move around if he wants to.

The green/yellow tape indicates that that particular 'end' doesn't fit in the seat belt socket on our MH.

Our dog restraints won't plug into the rear seat of our VW Topaz which has a different housing from the front seats so I am going to try threading the belt itself through the loops in the dog restraints [we have two small dogs].

Don't forget the seat belt will still unravel.
