A “transaxle” is a combined gearbox and final drive unit and is what’s fitted to front wheel drive vehicles (there are a very few where there is a rear mounted transaxle but it’s rare)
Very few European vans/motorhomes were ever fitted with “proper” automatic gearboxes, they cost a fair bit more than manuals so fleet operators were not interested in them, so manufacturers didn’t fit ‘em.
Its not the destination that matters.
It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
