hi all

thrust bearing was my first thought or clutch plate springs

if it rattles in neutral then press down the clutch if it still rattles the put in gear as the input to the gearbox can still turn in neutral through clutch drag this is why you can get a little clonk when engaging a gear

if it in gear with the clutch pressed and still rattles i doubt it is the gearbox as nothing will be turning in the gearbox

Thanks John
I think i will go through those stages and try to analyse whether its clutch or gearbox. incidentally i did contact a supplier of reconditioned gearboxes but yet to get an answer, indications are are that the cost of a reconditioned supplied gearbox is not to bad (thats fitting it myself). I have had the vehicle some 20 years plus, travelled all over europe, had some really good times and of course you get really attached to old bus,i will keep it going as long as possible.
