Gaslow LPG Adaptor

In Guernsey we cannot now obtain LPG (MACHINE BROKE AND REMOVED!!!!!!) and unable to go away (which is fine with me) to fill in UK or France but would like to fix up temp connection into LPG filler point from red free standing 11kg Propane bottle. I have the flex hose and bottle adaptor but need a brass union to screw into van and attach to end of flex hose.

Any pointers as to where I can obtain one?

I know I can take out a bottle and fit in a Propane free standing in the cupboard but just want to keep it simple for now. We are free to camp locally at all the sites as we are Covid free and out of lockdown (78 days now).

Cheers

ALAN

Surely itís a lot simpler to just swap cylinders over in the locker? I would be a tad cautious doing what you suggest as you are messing around with a high pressure gas system.

Do you have an external BBQ point! You could use that in preference provided thereís a regulator on the cylinder you intend to use.

Andy

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, itís in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Andy,

I do not have an external BBQ point but I do have 2 x 11kg in the locker one of which is empty and the other half empty. None return valve on the inlet so only going one way. 11kg into 22 is not a problem I think. May even be able to fill liquid into internal bottles (invert red bottle). No different to doing it at the garage really if fully sealed and outdoors.

Will see!

Or you could connect bottle through bbq point if you have one

Ta,

Looks like it could be. Have emailed Gaslow so will see what they come back with. I think the BBQ point may have a non return valve somewhere in the system to stop
a blow back????

Contacted Gaslow who were very helpful.

They do a hose with adaptor and also various bottle adaptors to fit (never knew that). See links below. About £40 delivered. Also enclosed is their reply to my question about filling for reference to others. I had not thought of the rubbish in the bottle flushing out.

(Used to do it all the time with refrigerant bottles but they were clean) We froze them down and then decanted from large bottles in the workshop. Don't suppose they can do that now!!!!!

Cheers

Alan

Many thanks for your email. I would not suggest filling refillables from an outside cylinder as you would end up putting residue from the bottom of the cylinder through all the valves which would then make them inoperative! By using the cylinder connection hose you are ordering you can stand the cylinder outside and allow the vapour to run your appliances, that way you are causing no harm to your system.
