Morrisons & LPG

Hi All

I have read differing opinions with regard to Morrisons and allowing motorhomes to refill their LPG bottles and their petrol stations, so I decided to email them for an official view and here was their reply....

Thank you for contacting us.

I am sorry but we do not permit filling of any portable gas vessel in any of our LPG stations, some manufacturers state that they have an approved LPG filling tank but unlike vehicles that make use of LPG they have an annual MOT to assess safety, Morrison's will not take any risk with allowing customers to use portable gas vessels or fill motorhomes , our stance is the position of least risk

Kind regards,

Ansar Mahmood

I replied with ......

Dear Ansar
I take on board your comments. My gas cylinders are not portable they are fixed, I have a legitimate filler cap on the outside of the gas locker and my gas and electric are checked by a member of the NCC The National Caravan Council which is their equivalent of an M O T, each year and a certificate is issued, therefore I take it I can fill at your stations?
Please advise.

Regards

His reply was .....

Hi Dave

Thanks for your reply.

I am sorry but motorhomes can not be filled in our filling stations.

Kind regards

Ansar Mahmood

Not the Ansar (lol) I was looking for.

We are off the the Brecon Beacons a week on Friday and will seek out a Morrisons station that sells LPG (as not all do) and will attempt to fill my bottles.

I will keep you informed.

Just stick an Autogas sticker over your filler and tell them its a LPG conversion if someone gets in a flap about it. You can get motorhomes that run on LPG I believe.

I've emailed them again asking if the van is converted to LPG as opposed to diesel, would I then be allowed to fill up as it is under the MOT.

Will let you know when they reply.

Asking the question begs a NO. Why do that. Just fill via filling point and they will assume you are LPG powered. If they ask tell them all you know is that it's a tank.

Propaganda works best when those who are being manipulated are confident they are acting on their own free will.

Morrisons in Port Talbot allow you to fill, we use it regularly and we have in internal filler point. Ive also heard Morrisons in Barry but can't vouch for that one

always use Morrisons in Littlehampton, never had anyone querying it. Seems to me that by asking the question whether it is ok or not will elicit a no, and encourage them to spread the "no" responses.

They’re covering their ass in the event of an incident, if one occurs they can blame the local staff for going against policy.
