Been there twice, once in the MH.

First time it was cheap. Five years later they'd caught up!

It's pretty much like any other European country to be honest. And they even have Tesco.

Lake Balaton has some good sites.

Money and fuel are no prob at all.

Happy to try and answer any specific questions.

Personal Aire
I went in 2009 and on a motorbike.

The roads were terrible, and trucks rule.

The cities are like everywhere else, but deep into the country there are bargins, and some lovely people.

Sorry its not specific, but we followed our noses......

Petrol stations were everywhere.

We went last year and our blog at http://candakubicki.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Hungary has some campsites, places to visit that are not Budapest or Lake Balaton and some thoughts on Hungarian roads , wine etc. Diesel was readily available

We are in Hungary now. Have only travelled about 100 km so far on ordinary roads - no problems with then so far. Have spent today at the THThermal lake at Heviz (near Lake Balaton) - well wortha visit in our opinion.

Prices - it depends whet you expect as cheap, but if half-price will do you it's good value.

Plenty of LPG at the many petrol stations.

See separate post regarding tolls.

It's about two refuelling stops for a Russian tank to get there from Ukraine, so I think I'll be giving it a miss for a year or two!

I remember about 18 months ago saying something similar in a somewhat flippant manner to someone planning to go to Syria in their van and getting some grief for attempting to put off tourists to what was described as a perfectly safe, friendly country to visit!

If the Russians get into any of the EU countries, most if not all of which are also in Nato, we have ALL got to worry, not just the Hungarians!
