The great advantage of air travel of course is that it gets you there very quickly.

I hate air travel BUT I adopt the attitude that it’s a days grief at either end of the trip and I have all that time in the middle to enjoy, so I just grin and bear it (the air travel part that is)

Andy

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if it’s in a caravan!) I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Me neither! I know very few people who return from a trip abroad and talk about the holiday. All you hear is the grief they encountered at the airport, on the plane and again at the airport! We did a recce to Spain in the Spring and all my brain goes back to is the rip off we suffered over the hire car at the airport (Told them we did not require damage cover as we already had it - they said "fine", then "sign here" and we ended up paying for cover we did not need!). Never tell the story of the trip always the story of the flight!

Odd that Pat. WE dined with friends who had just splashed out on an expensive week in Sardinia a couple of weeks ago. They spent as much on their one week as we spend on 12 weeks wintering in Spain and Portugal.!
Delays, crowds, poor accommodation, plumbing and food and never again was all we heard.

Air travel is slightly easier Schengen- Schengen countries and at smaller airports.

What I find irritating is that different security procedures apply in different countries belts, shoes, watches etc.

I just put everything, including those items and coins into a small compartment on my hand luggage. I cannot understand why the instructions are not there for everyone to do the same, because it is very slow waiting for people in front to take these items off when instructed, instead of before.

Because the powers that be Geoff are all jobsworths and dare not make any decision or idea themselves for fear.
When it was decided to ban any 'liquid' of more than 100ml. I put the remains of a 100ml. toothpaste tube containing a smear of paste in my hand luggage to use on my arrival. It was confiscated.!!! I argued it possibly contained 5ml of paste but dumb jobsworth 'security' plank had seen the 100ml. on the tube and that was enough for him.

Thick or what?

Ray.
