Electronic visas for Turkey

The Turkish Government introduced a new electronic visa system for obtaining a Turkish tourist visa in April 2013.

The online system allows travellers to apply and, if they are successful, to pay and print off their visa ready for when they arrive in Turkey avoiding the long queues and scrambling for cash.

The new system also warns travellers in advance if there is likely to be a problem entering the country.

The latest news is that the Government plans to make a big switch so that all visas are issued by the new system in 3-4 months time (September / October 2013).

The cost of the Turkish tourist visa remains at 10 for UK nationals although payment by credit card will incur a transaction charge.

See https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ for details

I tried the system out and it works except they wanted to charge me $US20 instead of 10.

Unlike electronic visa countries we have visited for Turkey one has to print the visa out, but that's Turkey.

Safe travelling.

Thanks as always for your useful tips. However i have also attempted to apply electronically for a visa, and stopped when I was informed 20 dollars would be charged rather than 10 !
You say they wanted to charge you.......
Did they actually charge you this higher fee, or have you a method to avoid it ?

happy travelling to warmer parts

Hi,

I was only trying the system out. We have Turkish residency permits so we don't need a tourist visa.

If you are planning to visit Turkey you will still have your vehicle details entered in your passport.

Just a word of warning, there appears to be a couple of unofficial sites offering electronic visa for Turkey.

This site https://turkey-evisa.com:7098/ is charging 27.99

The official goverment site https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ is charging US$20 about 13.

Don

If one applies in advance does the 3 months start running from day of application or is it possible to state the start date to coincide with one's arrival?

Geoff,

You can apply for the visa to start on your arrival date.

Just in case.???

I am after some cutlery from Turkey. We bought some a couple of years ago and want more of the same.

I have searched the net and only come up with some Turkish hotel sites which I can't understand relating to this particular cutlery. I guess it's catering cutlery.

Anyway, if anyone touring Turkey might come across this type of cutlery called POLAT HOME, we are after a set and obviously will pay for any out of pocket expenses.

Ray.

Ray,

We are back in Turkey late October, I'll try and get some for you. If you can e mail a picture it would help. I know a couple of shops that sell catering equipment and there's also the market.
