I'd be fairly sure it's scaremongering. That story does the rounds in different countries at different times and is always gleefully pick up.

I'm helping out on a bust aire here in Spain and nobody's mentioned it. There's a Cepsa LPG station not far away, I can go and find out next week if necessary, or ask someone to call in and find out for me.

We filled the fifth wheeler up a couple of times in Spain with no problems. On one occasion the chap came out from the shop to ensure we had the right connection.

I was picking up LPG near Nancy in France. You had to go into the shop to get it turned on. He asked me a question I didn't get, then asked small containers or big. I truthfully answered big, but I suspect he was really asking was it for propulsion or living quarters.
