Saw plenty of wild campers on The Algarve this year.

hi

im in armacao de pera the weathers fine , a little cool at night 7.18 now and the suns on its way up

the motorhomes are gradually moving on home now so the area is getting a little quieter
tell us where the government site is as not heard about it

the algarve are looking at sorting the camper situation out to stop wild camping but from what ive seen vans parked in a quiet area and kept tidy are left alone

1 of the local GNR ( police ) told me it is because people are dumping there waste all over the area and even into the lakes

also the site owners are on the case of wildcampers as they want them to pay to camp on approved sites

come on down

barry

Just come back to Spain after about 6 weeks on the Algarve. All the Aires we stayed on were very very crowded as were the wild parking spots. Massive numbers of French vans have swelled the total numbers as almost all of them that used to overwinter in Morocco have come to southern Spain and Portugal instead this year, to avoid terrorism issues.

Wot Nomad said, it was the same last year, very crowded with mainly French and British vans, we found the best aires and off grid spots were away from the jam packed Algarve.

We were planning to return this year but partially because of this are now off to Greece instead.

Have a good one Graham, we love Portugal.

We might give it a go again this autumn, maybe down the west coast where we first fell in love with the place.

Thanks Pete, you too!
We will be going or returning via the far south west of Spain down the middle, not sure about the Algarve, as we prefer the real Portugal. We have previously toured down from the north down to Peniche. Thinking this time go Lisbon, south to Sines and further down. I used to Truck to the area, but that was years ago!

Might be worth doing a few barragems if you haven't already done so Graham.

Usually not as crowded as the coast although some of the better known ones can get busy.
