Cool Merida - for the night

Hi

I'm hitting Merida tomorrow, but have never found a place the stay previously. Does anyone know of a safe place to stay(not campsite)? Adam lists some but they are not ideal.

thanks

There is an aire in Merida right by the Roman ruins. Essentially, it is a car park for cars recovered by the police and has (or had when we were there ) permanent security. It cost us something like 16 euros the night which was a bit steep imo. Motorhomes parked up in the middle and we spent a peaceful night. I cannot give you the coords as according to the Aires book I use they are copyrighted. However, I can tell you that it is near Calle Cabo Verde. Whatever, Merida is well worth a visit. Hope that helps a bit.

hya - I don't think they can "copyright" actual coordinates, the book itself yes, but there's nothing stopping you giving the coords out.

cheers

Be aware that the carpark where a few (maybe half a dozen?) motorhomes can ark up for the night in central Merida s just that: a car park. It is gated and secure, but is on a substantial slope. Last time we were over that way, it was 18 euros a night fr a motorhome to park there.

We wild-parked out of town, on the car park at the little park alongside the leisure lake (about maybe 5kms out of the town, where an old campsite used to be), and then went in/out on our 125cc Innova scooter.

The Roman museum in the town is brilliant, as are the Roman amphitheatre ruins.
