Netherlands Guide Book

Folks

We are off the the NL in Sept. Can anyone recommend a good travel book about the country?

We are spending...

3 nights in Utrecht
5 nights in Amsterdam
3 nights in Alkmaar
2 nights in Juliandorp
1 night near Groningen

As the travel distances between the sights we are staying on are relatively short, it will afford us plenty of time to bimble around and visit a few places.

Thanks

Graham

Don't often buy guide books, Tourist Boards send free brochures on request.
However. we did buy the 'Lonely Planets' book for Norway and the Western European book.
In the single country books the detail is quite amazing....Norway 450 pages and in the European book the Netherlands is 50 pages which is quite adequate but obviously the bonus of 10 other countries.....from Ireland to Greece.

Ted.
I try and state simple facts in a nice way.

This site is a start:-

Good luck

PS. They are available once you are in the country!!!!!

Thanks Ted

I found various sites including the first one but no mention of free brochures or indeed an email address

Hi,
We just spent a week in the Netherlands and used a Rough guide, secondhand off Amazon for £3 mostly postage!
We spent a day in Delft then three days in Otterlo in the Hoge Veluwe National Park visiting expensive but good museums and art gallery. They were at Acsi sites then a night at Elburg an old walled town at the aire at the yacht harbour which unfortunately is closing in September to extend the moorings in the marina as they will make more money than 18 motorhomes at €11.70 for a night.

Steve's idea is a good one for all the different guide books.

I'll pick up a Rough Guide (or similar) off Fleabay then - they are less than 3 quid

Vicarious have this one for a fiver as well which might be worth a punt...

Cheers all
