Eurostar in danger of collapsing

Due to a huge drop in passenger numbers, and having exhausted the options of finance from France Eurostar are seeking support from the U.K. Govt

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

The UK Govt said last week that they would not support it.

Yet it seems obvious that they will have to. It's hard enough to get stuff exported and imported without closing any means of doing it at the minute.

Brexiters. It's your sh1t now. Whatever happens nationally and internationally you own it. I wish you luck. I think you're going to need all you can get and then some. Friday 13th December 2019.

I think the article refers to the Eurostar not the Channel Tunnel [Eurotunnel] or Le Shuttle. It is hard to keep up with it all as apparently Eurotunnel has been rebranded by its French owners as Getlink. https://www.theguardian.com/business...channel-tunnel

Nah why worry about links with the EU the new UK doesn't need the EU.
Johnson will next suggest a tunnel to America as the solution.

Not a British problem its private and all the share holders are foreign if it fails it will go into administration and if its seen to be viable will be kept running until a buyer is found which could be the UK goverment

Very odd "Eurostar is majority-owned by the French state railway, SNCF, but is thought to have exhausted options for governmental assistance from Paris". Why would the French government not support their own company?

Our largest airport, Heathrow is owned by the Spanish and Qatar, our largest port, Felixstow is owned by a Chinese company registered in the Virgin Islands and they are all serviced by utility companies owned by the French and Germans! Makes you think. No doubt the Chinese will step in and buy an essential part of GB infrastructure Eurostar. We look at the short term in this country and rely too much on the free market to look after the country. Time we woke up I think.

Maybe they don't see much future in travel to/from the UK?

There will be a lot of Brexit supporters who have had cold sweat nightmares about that open cross channel tunnel. All their efforts to drive out foreigners and we still have a tunnel connecting us and those French people.

I'm waiting for the Leave.eu lot to buy it and fill it with concrete, just to be safe.
