Terrible, a 12th century building never to be replaced, nothing to say how it started yet.
Oh, might have been to do with the restoration work going on.

Yes so tragic such a historic building going up in flames.

Ray.

The FSA licensed a twice convicted fraudster to handle our life´s savings. Guess what? He robbed us of £750,000. http://raynipper.com

I do hope the company doing the repairs have decent insurance, the cost is going to run into tens of millions.

Seriously though, what an terrible tragedy. However they WERE able to rebuild Windsor Castle after a similar fire.

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, it’s in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Should we offer them Prince Charles instead of the Brexit settlement as he oversaw the Windsor Castle disaster ?

Just wondrin' if the UK has ANYTHING that the French would like.......

We could do a bulk package and send several Royals to lessen the Privy Purse, say half a dozen titles on a sale or no return basis ?

It is a disaster not only for the Church but for Paris, France and the rest of the world and the cost will be more than tens of millions to restore the structure. 😢

Remember Jo Cox and what she stood for.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.

Sadly much of it is irreplaceable its so historic. Same when York Minster went up. Tragic. They might be able to replicate it and make it look ok but it wont ever be the same again. Sadly the French are not very good at doing up old relics. Well they are too good, they often make them look newer than they should be.

At least no loss of life as far as we know.

I'm not signing anything.

The two impulses in travel are to get away from home, and the other is to pursue something - a landscape, people, an exotic place. Certainly finding a place that you like or discovering something unusual is a very sustaining thing in travel.

Quasimodo will be OK as he lives around the bells in the towers so that is one problem sorted, terrible destruction though, seeing the spire collapse showed how the wooden structure had succumbed to the fire.

Apparently it will be rebuilt using the traditional materials and methods in which case it might be finished by 2219 but I suspect once they have forged out the debris (perhaps 5 years ? ) it will be rebuilt in about 10 - 15 years at a cost of several billion €

Ouch !
