Ski trip near the Austria-Italy border

Hi all,

We're planning a little getaway for the winter holidays and ski is on the menu 🙂 We would like to spend a few days between Xmas and New Year skiing near the Brennero pass.

What are we looking for?
- At most 100km detour from the Nuremberg - Florence route.
- A relatively smaller ski area, not crowded and better suited for beginners
- Wild camping near the slope opportunities - We have no interest in camping sites for several reasons, but mostly because we want to wake up on the slope 🙂

It is possible we would go for 2 different spots so as not to spend more that 2 - 3 days in one location.

Last year we went to a small ski slope near Vienna, it was awesome 🙂

All ideas are more than welcome 🙂

take a look at Kronplatz which is at the northern end of the Dolomites and less than 100km from the Brenner Pass.

it's beginner friendly and has a great aire next to a Pizzeria, which is a short walk to the closest lift - http://www.ritterkeller.it/en/camping-area-kronplatz. (stayed there a couple of years ago and while they call it a campsite, it's basically a private car park with EHU).

alternatively you can park at one of the ski lifts - https://www.campercontact.com/de/ita...tion-kronplatz

Looks like a winner to me 🙂 Thank you very much for the location! Hopefully the winter won’t be too harsh

no problem. if you do use the Pizzeria aire (yes, they charge but for what you get I think it's worth it) beware when pulling up to the entry barrier if it's snowy as it's on a slope and there is a danger you could slide back when you stop! as I found out..... just pull up as far as you can and the barrier should lift before you need to stop

We’ll only stay 2-3 days, we have no need for electric, water or gas for that period, and if we can clean the casette before reaching, we should be just fine. We are pretty well set up, but it is good to know we have a safety net, just in case 🙂

Looking at the european weather, I have some concerns, but we’ll see on a day-by-day basis. It’s not like we’re missing out on our reservations )))
