Rough Justice

The Mail has today set up an appeal to have overturned the life sentance given to our brave soldier Sergeant Alexander Blackman. Please read about and donate to his legal fighting fund, I've donated
£20.

How can it be right to convict him for something done in the heat of battle after he's seen his brothers in arms chopped to pieces by the Taliban Scum. And yet it's OK to send a drone in to kill two others.
Don't get me wrong though I agree with the drone strike.

His sentence is a disgrace. I hope he is freed quickly and gets his appeal.

I have also just donated £20.

Personal Aire
A little background information regarding this particular incident in the link below.

One of the things that differentiates our brave fighting men from the likes of the "Taliban Scum" is the fact that they must comply with and answer to a rule of law, known to all of those who fight, otherwise they are no better than their opponents.

If the details in the link are correct there appears to be no doubt that Blackman overstepped his rules of engagement. I am not sure that a rush of blood to the head can be used as a defence in this case, given the audio evidence.

Please don't get me wrong, I agree entirely that our soldiers are often in intolerable situations, not of their making, and have every admiration in how the vast majority conduct themselves. It's one of the things that makes the British Forces great.

I keep wondering why this was blown up into such a big thing and for what purpose after all this kind of thing must happen in wartime constantly....... Iím not condoning what he did, Iím just puzzled.

As I'm a dyslexic and I've had two stokes you are going to see spelling/grammar mistakes, so please don't act superior and point them out!

Blackman's crime was stupidly getting caught on camera - how many don't come to trial? It was a services trial, but had it been in the High Court how many jurors would vote 'guilty' ?

It was admitting on camera that he clearly knew exactly what he was doing and what the possible consequencies were - but somehow now it was in "the heat of the moment".
