Smart or Fiat 500 as new A Frame toad

Myold Smart is buggered. Had a wiring loom fire. Cost of replacing wiring loom is more than it is worth.

My first car was a 500, paid 400 in 1975. !972 model in blaze orange. I ran it into the ground

I travelled '000s of miles over UK in that as a student. It was last seen, engineless on stage at local theatre as the panto car, with falling off doors and a bonnet which opened and closed, Dad stage managed the local amateur shows!

I have been happy with the Smart, but I am large and it is small and I am wondering whether to go for a new Fiat 500 so I have a bit of extra room, and not much more weight

Views, on cars only, I have already taken the decuision that I am happy with the legality of A frames

Personal Aire
I have a Fiat 500. Having spent some time experimenting, I now achieve over 70mpg everywhere I go, motorway or cross country. The secret is in how you drive it.

As to using it as a toad, PM MandyandDave

Tow car

Hi

I know nothing about either of the cars in a mechanical respect.

On the assumption that you like both, and the costings are similar, I would go for one with four seats vice two if that option is available.

Decision made found really nice 2,000 mile, 1.2 litre 500, 1st reg'd May 2008, with aircon, in white at 1500 off list

Paid deposit and fly to Luton to pick up on Friday, its in Milton Keynes.

Drive to Warrington and will drop off at Lesiurepower before flying home from Liverpool

As I already have the A frame the fittings are costing very little.

I have done a deal with the Smart insurers and kept the scrap and will probably try a re wire. If succesful I will take the car to Spain and leave it there. (No MOT for IOM registered cars)

25 September am going across on boat to stay in Manchester and will pick up Fiat from warrington with A frame and bring back early hours of 28th on boat.

|Thanks for help
