This only applies to manual boxes though, some automatics cannot be towed (at all) & others only for short distances. Traditional auto boxes with a torque converter generally use an oil pump which will not be working if the vehicle is not being driven normally.
If you plan on towing an automatic it is wise to seek advice from the manufacturer before you start.
I wouldn't be towing a normal automatic, but where would the Smart be in the mix?

I have managed to store it on the same plot as my MH for no extra cost.
I like the look of the trailer, I've never seen that sort of configuration before. Don't tempt me.

Never yet met a Yank I couldn't take an immediate dislike to, and the way this forum is going I’ll add those a bit northwards too.

Personal Aire
A lot of cars have gearboxes with pumped lubrication, not just automatics.

I am hoping to sell the car and the trailer together but I don't think I will have any trouble selling them separately if you are only interested in the trailer. How can I tempt you?

Thank you for the enquiry, but I am not in the market for one. Yet.

But it is an interesting trailer all the same.
