bbc1,2,3,4 itv and ch 4 in spain on intelsat 907 27.5 w

hi all, just found that this satellite carries the main english channels except channel 5. not sure how long they will be there but might be an alternative once astra 2f becomes operational. these are biss encrypted so not possible to get with a skybox but i am looking into which box to use at the moment and will report back when i have found out. all the best sean

As i said in:
http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopic...7.html#1327677
and
http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopic...1.html#1327731

a number of Technomates work fine with modified firmware -
TM6800HDSuper
TM6900HDSuper
TM5402HDSuper
TM6902HDSuper
TM7100HD
TM7102HD

as do some "economy" boxes - one or two Christors do.

Not may boxes are able to use the high fec - 44100.
Not all boxes can handle the BISS encryption either.

but once "they" wind that it is being used you can bet they change the encryption....so it may be a very short term solution.

5402HD - nice and simple to use - like most TMs.
Took only a few minuted to locate the firmware, codes, upload all, scan channels, and get it up and working.

But again, a word of warning. No idea how long these will remain "available". Once word gets out, and it becomes popular, you can be "they" will change encryption - probably to the same "unhackable" one that Channels 5 is using. So this could all be a short term gain only. Something which some "installers" here in Spain are "forgetting" to tell their potential clients!

Jon..
Out of interest what size dish are being used on 27 west. ??
I've been out the game to long.

This takes me back a long way to my early satellite days when there were about 4 channels coming off this satellite ( mid/late 80's)..

There was a channel called "lifestyle" and it showed women wrestling, I used to have it in the window at my shop.. There was a butchers next door and the women would be in there for their meat but all their blokes would be standing outside my shop..

80cm dish, with inverto ultra black LNB...
nice and fine signals.
and the dish is not even aligned 100% on the satellite!

here is a footprint map:
http://www.intelsat.com/flash/covera...tml?sat=IS-907 at 332.5%BA E&display=map&spot=1

Spain is covered by the 46.6db contour - which is 80cm dish territory.
the 50.6db contour - which is 60cm dish territory

Slightly off topic, but where can we get a chart with the co ordinates for the satellites in different areas?
Hope i have got that right.
We were struggling to get a signal, in france, and a fellow camper brought out his list in less than a minute we were up and running. Would be a great asset, for John, I might just run off screaming at the thought of more sport though
