Peugeot Boxer Recall

For information I had a recall letter today for my Peugeot Boxer (ref X8L).

"There is a possibility of water entering the vacuum circuit of the brake servo system which could affect the efficiency of the braking system"

The van was manufactured mid 2004 and is an Autocruise conversion. The work is booked for next week at my local garage.

Mines booked into Budgens Tuesday morning.

There is a sort of squeak when cold. I noticed this at a rally and the chap I was speaking to put his foot on the exhaust pipe and it stopped! I live with it rather than driving with one foot out the door!! :P

Same noise on Fiat Ducatto

It is from the exhaust although it sounds rather like a water pump death rattle. Within a couple of miles it goes away. Just hold the exhaust before it gets too hot and notice the difference. Baffles apparently.

Rang Peugeot garage Thursday 15th, booked for Monday 19th - a bit disappointed they only checked it in the hour they had it instead of having parts in stock.

However, received a call Tuesday 20th and took it in Wednesday 21st when job was completed within a further hour.

What I don't understand is that if Peugot, Fiat and Citreon are all the same van, how come they get independant safety recalls.

Because they share the same chassis but they dont all have the same engine / mechanical set up.
Cheers Matt
