Hi I just bought some of the Aldi ones, and put them in a cupboard all have sprinklers etc and I think cost about 69 or 79p each, which are fine for us as not in the MH full time, so easily replaceable and cost effective if they go out of date.
I'm busy kitting out Delores with assorted bits and bobs but am struggling to find a portable spice rack. Have had a hunt around 'tinterweb but haven't found anything yet.
I enjoy cooking and a decent cooker was an essential thing on my list of criteria - but how to transport the herbs & spices....?
Any and all ideas very welcome!
I suppose the best way to store them would depend on the size, shape and locality of the available storage places in your motorhome, and of course how much you want to store. We use a plastic tupperware type box about the size of a 2 litre ice cream container. In it we keep a basic supply of herbs, spices, a few stock cubes and some Marigold stock powder, plus any other items such as sachets of ketchup (urgh, I hate it), mayonnaise, mustard etc. that we've acquired. Each item is stored appropriately within: some in little plastic bags or boxes, others in the little tubs they came in.
There are similar large plastic boxes containing other things: one for rice, pasta, lentils etc., another for snacks such as cereal bars, nuts, dried fruit or chocolate. This is basic motorhome stuff. Depending where we're going and how long for we'll also take other stuff from the house.
Thanks everyone! I've spent today hunting around Lidls, Aldis etc. I eventually found some sets of baby food containers in Tesco that were 79p for 4. They fit perfectly behind the cooker cover when we're parked but can be stashed separately into small nooks in the storage cupboards when we're on the move.
As we're planning on taking off for a long haul I'm trying to think of everything and it seems that as soon as one thing gets sorted and removed from the list, another thing pops on!
